Joy

Living in joy is a fundamental state of being - even on a crappy day.

Part of the practice to be in joy is to focus on what is positive instead of what is negative. When we get stuck in a negative thought-spiral, the ability to notice all the things - big and small -  that bring us joy, are easily missed.

Another important practice for finding joy (and keeping it), is to only spend time and energy on what really matters to you. To you. Not what others think should matter to you.

If everyday is a long chain of reactions, feelings, and attachments to a 'should' instead of a 'want', it is very likely that you will find yourself living with feelings of overwhelm, frustration, confusion, stress, and sadness.

Reasonable expectations of yourself and others is another vital part in reaching a state of fundamental joy. If your expectations do not jive with reality, or if your habit is to compare yourself with others, you will live in a state of never being satisfied. To live in a state of constantly wanting something more or different than what you have is not only exhausting, but leaves you sad and unable to even recognize all the things that are good in your life.

I strive to help you create a healthy balance between being satisfied with what you have and what you have done, and the desire to make improvements.

“A POSITIVE ATTITUDE GIVES YOU POWER OVER YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES INSTEAD OF YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES HAVING POWER OVER YOU.”
